As the busy month of February transitions to March, the Art III assignments are raging on, full steam ahead! I missed two weeks of school, and because of this, I am sure I will take a month to catch up. All that being said, here is what is happening!

  1. Wood Carving Project Progress - I have been either staying back after school or taking tools home to make progress on the wood carving project this past week. I have made excellent progress developing some form on the sides, but now I need to use the Dremel tool to work on the string. At the peer review of the carvings, Coach Hall and my peers advised me to include detail to show the viewer that the form is a finger. I additionally need to remove the two pointy ends of the knot so that the string looks continuous. I must go back to the beginning with the chisels.

  2. At-home Performance Project - I have rethought my theme and have two potential ideas: a pity party or a battle between innocence/determination and sluggishness. This dress could be modified to fit either by cutting and sewing or even dyeing! If I go with the pity party idea, I can bake a cake and use old party decorations stored in the attic. If I go with the latter, I have some fake swords/weapons that will do nicely.

  3. Still Life Objects - As a tribute to my childhood, I have gathered objects from around the house with which I used to play. Because I did not have many toys, I chose anything shiny I could find to play with instead. I love all of them because they make me nostalgic and will be incredibly fun to paint with oil paint. The blanket is one I adored as a kid, and it would make a nice drape for the background since it would bring the focus to the objects.

Thank you for reading all that! That is it for this week folks!
